THE YOUNG MAJOR

The debate on media including social media on the action of a young major in Kashmir is unending. A large number of politicians, socialists, liberals, pseudo intellectuals and such like others have commented that the young man is guilty of using human shield to save his skin and colleagues. Some have even labelled it as an act of cowardice. Interestingly, everyone seems to know what a young major should not have done while encountering a hostile, offensive and armed crowd of over thousand people. A stone is also an arm when it is being or intended to be used as one. However, sadly, none of them has a clue or suggested an alternate course of action that was available to the officer to tackle the vexed situation he confronted and its contingent fallout.    Here, there is an inherent problem. A POSSIBLE AND SENSIBLE RESOLUTION OF SENSITIVE MANDIR MASJID ISSUE

   Probably, the Apex Court is proceeding very deliberately before pronouncing a verdict in ‘Mandir Masjid’ case as either way it will cause more pain than pleasure. While some questions are better unanswered, it is never wise to push the problems under the carpet. These only grow bigger there. It may not be good idea to labour finding answers to all questions in life, but reality, how so ever harsh, has to be confronted in face, better today than tomorrow. This row must end now.    I always wonder that if mosques and temples have created divide between societies and human beings, how these can unite us with the God. Whether we construct a temple or mosque or both, we are less likely to connect with the God here as most of the visitors will pride revelling and recounting the history of the place, as to what it was originally, when all, by whom all, what all got constructed here and how ultimately the site has been revenged to its original honour.
